Project Summary

Location
Port St. Lucie, Florida
Use
Open-air shade pavilion for RV lots/backyards
Target Area
≈ 500 sq ft (final field-verify)
Footprint
Tapered, non-rectangular. Long edge ≈ 27′-6″; width varies ≈ 13′-9″ to 24′-3″ (see sketch).
Roof
Hip profile with synthetic thatch finish

Dimensions and spans are conceptual and will be tuned during detailing and engineering.

Structure & Materials

  • Main posts: 8″ pressure-treated posts; quantity/spacing per span and wind exposure.
  • Primary beams: 8″ pressure-treated pine beams, sized to bay spacing and loading.
  • Rafters: round natural pine, 4–5″ diameter, with uplift straps/ties.
  • Top framing: natural pine 3×4 timbers where specified (lookouts/purlins).
  • Fasteners/Hardware: exterior structural screws/bolts (e.g., TimberLOK®) and hot-dip galvanized or stainless connectors.
  • Roofing: synthetic thatch system with matching ridge; drip management at eaves.

Plan & Function

  • Tapered plan aligns to angled lot geometry while keeping a clear circulation lane along the pad/drive.
  • Comfortable zones for 6–8 seat dining plus lounge; or a 10–12′ L-bar with back counter.
  • Eave height set for headroom and ceiling-fan clearance; concealed chases available for LED lighting.
  • Landscape screening along the edge for privacy and wind relief (as shown in renders).

Options & Variations

  • Entertainment package: bar-centric layout, under-counter refrigeration, pass-through shelf.
  • High-wind exposure: heavier connector schedule and passive ridge/hip venting.
  • Tight lots: reduce narrow side width and extend the long side to stay near ≈500 sq ft.
  • Low-maintenance set: synthetic thatch + annual hardware check and quick rinse.

Compliance Notes

  • Verify setbacks, easements, and HOA requirements for Port St. Lucie prior to final layout.
  • Design to applicable Florida Building Code wind criteria for the site.
  • Final post count/spacing, beam sizes, and connection details to be confirmed by a licensed professional.
