Dimensions and spans are concept values taken from the field; final member sizing is confirmed during detailing.

Framing & Materials

  • Main posts: three PT 8″ posts set at the triangle corners; layout supports the bump-out on the 22′ side.
  • Primary beams: PT 8″ beams tying post-to-post with diagonal bracing where needed for stiffness.
  • Rafters: 4–5″ Ø PT round rafters converging to a central apex for the pyramid form.
  • Purlins: 3×4 timbers at regular spacing to support the thatch layer and keep a tight underside pattern.
  • Roofing: natural thatch with a continuous metal ridge cap; eave edges detailed for clean drip control.
  • Fasteners/Connectors: galvanized hardware with TimberLOK structural screws throughout.

Plan & Function

  • The triangular plan nests into irregular patios and water-side lots without obstructing circulation.
  • The 5′ bump-out on the 22′ side creates a flexible zone for a grill cart, small bar surface, or extra seating.
  • Pyramid roof provides even perimeter overhangs and a compact apex for efficient water shed.

Adaptations

  • Adjust overhang depth by orientation (deeper on west/south exposures).
  • Swap natural thatch for synthetic if lower maintenance is preferred.
  • Optional low-voltage lighting can be added along purlins if desired.

Notes

  • Confirm clearances, setbacks, and any community rules before final placement.
  • Member sizes and connector schedule may vary with exposure and span preferences.
