Tiki Hut Ceiling Fan Mount (Low-Profile Beam Bracket)
This detail is a dedicated ceiling fan mount fastened to the tiki hut’s tie beam/rafters so a fan can be installed without a long downrod. The mount keeps the motor tight to the structure, improves stability, and sets the fan at the right height for airflow under the thatch.

What It Does
- Low profile: Drops the fan just enough for clearance while avoiding long, wobbly rods.
- Stability: Through-bolted or lagged to framing to reduce vibration and sway.
- Clean wiring: Conduit or cable can run along the beam and into a fan-rated box on the mount.
- Airflow: Positions blades below the purlins so air moves across the seating zone.
Typical Construction
- Mount block/beam: Solid timber bolted to the main tie beam or rafter pair.
- Hardware: Exterior-rated bolts/screws; fan-rated electrical box (listed for 70 lb or per fan spec).
- Finish: Sanded edges; sealed or stained to match surrounding members.
Install Notes
- Use a wet- or damp-rated ceiling fan sized to the space (larger pavilions may use two smaller fans).
- Maintain at least 12″ clearance from thatch and framing; target blade height ~8–9 ft above floor where possible.
- Route wiring in an outdoor-rated raceway/box with a drip loop; protect switches with in-use covers.
- Add rubber isolation washers between box and mount if extra vibration damping is desired.
- Balance blades after install and re-check fasteners seasonally.
This mount is ideal anywhere a tiki hut needs reliable airflow without the look or movement of a long rod.
Placement can be centered over a table, bar, or lounge zone; multiple mounts can be aligned along a beam for larger layouts.
